Full biography Pasquale Anfossi
Pasquale Anfossi was an Italian composer of the Classical era. He was born in 1727 in Naples and had a successful career as an opera composer. He began his musical studies in Naples and later moved to Rome where he served as a church musician before moving to London in the mid-1760s.
In London, Anfossi composed several operas, which were well-received by audiences and critics alike. He gained fame with his comic opera, L’Intrigo delle Donne (The Women's Plot), which was performed in London in 1772 and later in other European countries.
Anfossi was known for his elegant melodies and his ability to create memorable themes. His music had a distinctive lyricism, and he was particularly skilled at creating vocal lines that complemented the text and the characters in his operas.
In addition to his work as an opera composer, Anfossi also composed chamber music, cantatas, and sacred music. He was a highly respected musician during his day and was credited with influencing many other composers who followed in his footsteps.
Although Anfossi's music fell out of favor after his death, his contributions to the development of opera and his unique musical style have earned him a place in the annals of classical music history.
