Full biography Otto Olsson
Otto Emanuel Olsson (1879-1964) was a prominent Swedish composer, organist, and music teacher. He was born in Stockholm, where he spent most of his life and career. Olsson received his musical education at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where he studied organ, composition, and other musical subjects. He was greatly influenced by the works of German composer Johann Sebastian Bach, whose style he incorporated into his own compositions.
Olsson is known for his contributions to the field of church music, particularly his use of plainsong themes in his compositions. He served as the organist at the Gustaf Vasa Church in Stockholm for nearly fifty years, where he also directed the church choir and composed numerous works for the church's services.
In addition to his contributions to church music, Olsson was also a prolific composer of orchestral and chamber music. His works were widely performed throughout the Nordic countries during his lifetime, and he received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to Swedish music.
Aside from his musical accomplishments, Olsson was also a respected educator and music teacher. He held various teaching positions throughout his career and was known for his extensive knowledge of and writing for choir.
