Nicolas Siret was a French composer born in Troyes, France on June 6, 1663. He came from a family of musicians and began learning music from a young age. His father, Henri Siret, was also a well-known composer and musician.

Nicolas Siret is best known for his compositions for the harpsichord and the organ. He often wrote fugues, allemandes, courantes, sarabandes, and chaconnes. Many of his works were published in collections such as "L'art de la Guerre" and "Les Fruits de la Récreation."

Siret was active during the Baroque period and was heavily influenced by the music of Jean-Baptiste Lully. He was also inspired by Italian composers of the time such as Corelli and Vivaldi. Siret's music was noted for its use of harmonies and counterpoint.

Despite his success as a composer, Siret struggled financially throughout his life. He often relied on patronage from wealthy aristocrats to support himself. Towards the end of his life, he was forced to sell his entire music collection to make ends meet.

Nicolas Siret passed away on January 3, 1754, in Paris, France. Despite his financial struggles, he left behind a legacy of beautiful and intricate compositions that continue to be admired and studied by musicians today.
