Nicolas Grenon (c. 1375 - October 17 , 1456) was a French composer of the early Renaissance. He is considered to be one of the important members of the Burgundian School of composers. Grenon was a significant figure in the development of music during the 15th century.
His musical compositions were characterized by their complexity and subtlety. He was known for his rich harmonies, sophisticated rhythms, and use of expressive dissonance. Grenon was also adept in all the prevailing musical forms of the time , such as mass, motet, and chanson.
Grenon is believed to have received his musical training in the Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris. He worked with the Duke of Burgundy, one of the most powerful patrons of music during that era. He served as the choirmaster at the Cambrai Cathedral in Northern France for several years.
Some of Grenon's most famous works include "Nobilis et pulchra es", "Anthoni usque limina", and "Kyrie Orbis factor". His music had a significant impact on subsequent generations of composers, particularly those from the Netherlands.
