Full biography Niccolo Piccinni
Niccolo Piccinni was an Italian composer born on January 16, 1728, in Bari, Italy. He was considered a leading composer in the Neapolitan school of opera in the 18th century.
Piccinni's initial interest was in law, but he soon realized that music was his true passion. He studied music in Naples and eventually became a teacher at the Conservatorio di Santa Maria di Loreto.
Piccinni's musical career is marked by his collaborations with the librettist Pietro Metastasio. Together they created many operas, the most notable of which was The Myth of Jason, which was hailed as a masterpiece. Piccinni also composed several church works, including oratorios and masses.
Piccinni's music was known for its elegance, clarity, and beauty. His operas were filled with charming melodies and unique harmonies that captivated audiences. His compositions were inspired by the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel, but he also had a unique style of his own.
Despite his success, Piccinni's music popularity waned with the rise of the Classical period, and his tragic death in 1800 marked the end of his career. He died in Passy, near Paris, after suffering for months from a throat disease. However, his music remains popular, and he is remembered as one of the most accomplished composers of the 18th century.
