Necil Kazım Akses was a renowned Turkish composer and conductor born on September 15, 1908, in Istanbul, Ottoman Empire. He was a child prodigy who showed a keen interest in music at a young age, and his early musical training came from his father, who was also a musician.

Akses studied at the Istanbul Conservatory, where he was exposed to both Western and Turkish music, which had a profound influence on his compositions. He was known for his unique style of composing, which blended Turkish folk music with Western classical music. His music was inspired by themes such as nationalism, human nature, and love.

In addition to composing music, Akses also worked as a conductor, and his work earned him widespread recognition both within Turkey and internationally. He was appointed conductor of the Istanbul Radio Symphony Orchestra, which later became the Turkish State Symphony Orchestra. He also served as the principal conductor of the Istanbul City Orchestra.

Akses' most famous works include his opera "Bay Önder" (The Chief), which debuted in 1941, and his "Anatolian Dances," which was commissioned by the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation in 1964.
