Mauricio Sotelo is a Spanish composer and conductor born on October 2, 1961, in Madrid, Spain. He began his musical career as a self-taught guitar player, but then went on to study composition, analysis, and electro-acoustic music at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid. Sotelo also studied at IRCAM in Paris, where he worked with prominent composers such as Tristan Murail and Salvatore Sciarrino.

Sotelo's compositions are characterized by a deep engagement with literature, art, and philosophy, marked by a profound complexity and an exceptional precision.
