Marcel Bitsch was a French composer born in Toulouse in 1921. He studied at the Paris Conservatory, where he specialized in teaching counterpoint and fugue. He was a prolific composer and wrote in a variety of genres, including orchestral, chamber, and vocal music. Additionally, Bitsch composed numerous pieces and studies for wind instruments.

Bitsch was known for his versatility as a composer , and his works were performed in many countries around the world. He won the prestigious Prix de Rome, a scholarship for arts students that was awarded by the French government, in 1952. Bitsch composed several orchestral pieces and some chamber music , including the Variations on a French Song.

He was also known for his works for wind instruments, including the Vingt Etudes for Trumpet and the 15 Rhythmical Studies for trombone. Additionally, he wrote the Concertino for Basson and Piano, which is still widely performed today.

Bitsch passed away in 2011, but his legacy as a composer continues to live on. His works remain popular among musicians and his contributions to the field of music are recognized and appreciated.
