Full biography Mansi Barberis
Mansi Barberis was a Romanian musician who lived from 1899 to 1986. She was a well-known violinist, conductor, music educator, and composer who wrote over one hundred art songs , symphonic music, chamber music, and four operas, "Caruta cu Paiate" (The Cart with Straw), "Misterele Dramatice" (Dramatic Mysteries), "Pintea Haiducul" (The Outlaw Pintea), and "Cetatea Fetei" (The Maiden's Fortress). Barberis studied composition with the well-known Romanian composer George Enescu, and her music reflects a blend of Romanian folk music and Western classical music. She was also known for her vocal compositions and her chamber music works, including string trios and string quartets. Barberis is regarded as one of the most important female composers in Romanian music history, and her works have been performed and recorded by many famous artists and ensembles around the world.
