Louis Applebaum was a Canadian composer, conductor, and administrator born on April 3, 1918, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and passed away on April 19, 2000. He is best known for writing and conducting music for more than 75 productions, including 250 scores for the National Film Board of Canada. He was also the original Music Director of the Stratford Festival and wrote the fanfare that can be heard before every performance in the Festival Theatre.
Applebaum was a prolific composer and wrote for a variety of mediums, including film, television, and theatre. He received numerous awards and honours throughout his career, including being made a Member of the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario.
