Klaus Ager is an Austrian composer and conductor who has made notable contributions to the contemporary classical music scene. He was born on December 27, 1946 in Vipiteno, Italy but later moved to Austria where he studied composition, horn and piano at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
Ager's musical style is known for its intricate complexities and innovative techniques, often incorporating elements of serialism, minimalism, and transitional harmonies. He has composed works for a variety of ensembles, from solo instruments to orchestras, as well as for multimedia installations and operas.
In 1975, Ager co-founded the nm Ensemble, which he conducted until 2007, and with which he premiered many of his compositions. He has also been a professor of composition and music theory at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz since 2008.
