Full biography Julius Benedict
Julius Benedict, who lived from 1804 to 1885, was a German-born composer and conductor who spent most of his career in England. He had a thorough grounding in early German Romanticism and helped develop the style of Romanticism in England. Benedict wrote a variety of musical works, including piano concertos and symphonies, and was known for his recitatives in Italian opera productions. He also conducted the Royal Philharmonic Society concerts for many years and was a friend of Felix Mendelssohn, the famous composer and conductor. In fact, Mendelssohn praised Benedict's work, as did others during his time, and he continues to be recognized for his contributions to classical music. Even Prince Charles has championed Benedict and his music, stating that he hopes to see more recognition for this talented composer.
