Full biography John W.Duarte
John William Duarte (1919-2004) was a British composer, guitarist, and writer. He was born in Sheffield, England, and contributed greatly to the guitar world during his lifetime. Duarte was a prolific composer and arranger who wrote concert pieces, classroom material, and ensemble music for all levels of players. His compositions are characterized by virtuosic guitar writing, intricate harmonies, and diverse musical styles.
In addition to his work as a composer, Duarte was also a respected teacher, writer, and reviewer. He wrote several books on the guitar and its history, including "The Guitar: Music, History, Players" and "The Modern Guitar." He also contributed articles to several music journals and was a regular reviewer for Classical Guitar magazine.
Duarte's contributions to the guitar world were recognized with numerous awards, including the Artistic Achievement Award in 1999 from Guitar Foundation of America. He passed away in 2004, leaving behind a lasting legacy as a composer, teacher, and writer.
