Full biography John Corigliano
John Corigliano is an American composer born on February 16, 1938. He is best known for his contemporary classical music compositions. Corigliano has composed over 100 scores throughout his career. His most famous works include the opera "The Ghosts of Versailles," which premiered at the Metropolitan Opera in 1991, and his Symphony No. 1, "Of Rage and Remembrance," which was written as a memorial to those who lost their lives during the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s.
Corigliano's work has been widely recognized and celebrated. He has won four Grammy Awards, including Best Classical Contemporary Composition for his Symphony No. 1. He has also won the Pulitzer Prize for Music, the Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition, and many other prestigious awards.
