Johannes Cesaris (fl. 1406-1417) was a French composer of the late Medieval era and early Renaissance. He was one of the composers of the transitional period between the two periods, and his music reflects this. He is known for his motet A virtutis ergo beata, which is considered to be his only surviving work. This piece is a beautiful example of the complex harmonies and counterpoint that was characteristic of the late Medieval era.

Johannes Cesaris was also known for his contributions to a musical group called Cesaris, Carmen and Tapissier, who were said to have amazed Paris with their music. He was clearly a very influential and well-respected composer during his time, and his work helped to bridge the gap between the two great eras of Western classical music.

Despite being relatively unknown by the general public today, Johannes Cesaris was a very important composer in his day. His music helped to lay the foundation for the Renaissance era, which would see a great explosion of creativity and experimentation in music. His contributions paved the way for future generations of composers, and he remains an important figure in the history of Western classical music.
