Johannes Alanus was an English composer who lived in the 14th century. He is known for his motet "Sub arturo plebs/Fons citharizancium/In omnem terram," which he wrote during his lifetime. He is also sometimes credited with authorship of the songs "Min" and "In seculum viellatoris."

Not much is known about Johannes Alanus's life, and there is some debate among music historians about the extent of his contributions to medieval music. Some sources suggest that his music was influenced by the Ars subtilior style, which was popular in France at the time. However, his work is distinct from the compositions of other Ars subtilior composers, and his motet is considered one of the most original compositions to emerge from the era.

Johannes Alanus is also sometimes associated with the composer Aleyn, though it is unclear whether the two were the same person or whether they collaborated on any pieces. Regardless, Johannes Alanus's work stands out for its complex harmonies, unique use of rhythm and melody, and originality.
