Full biography Jelly Roll Morton
Jelly Roll Morton was a famous American composer and pianist who was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1890. He was known for his innovative musical style which combined elements of ragtime, jazz, and blues. Morton was one of the pioneers of jazz music and is considered one of the most influential jazz musicians of all time.
Morton began playing piano at a young age and started performing in local bars and clubs in New Orleans as a teenager. He soon gained a reputation for his unique style of music and became a sought-after performer. In 1915, Morton moved to Chicago to pursue his music career and soon became a popular performer in the city's jazz scene.
Morton's musical style was influenced by his time spent in New Orleans, where he was exposed to a variety of different musical genres. He incorporated elements of blues and ragtime into his jazz music and became known for his intricate and complex piano playing.
In 1923, Morton released his first recording, "Jelly Roll Blues," which became an instant hit. He continued to release popular recordings throughout the 1920s and toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe.
