Full biography Jehan Fresneau
Jehan Fresneau was a French composer who lived during the Renaissance period of European history. Not much is known about his life, but it is believed that he was active during the mid-to-late 15th century. He was a composer of chansons, which were a popular form of secular vocal music in France during that time.
Fresneau is known to have written music for the funeral obsequies of Charles VII in 1461. One of his chansons, "Se jay perdu mon amy", is found in the chansonnier known as the "Loire Valley" chansonniers, which were collections of French chansons created in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. The chansonniers were important sources of French secular music during the Renaissance.
Fresneau's music is not widely performed or recorded today, but his chansons provide a valuable window into the musical culture of Renaissance France.
