James Lentini is an American composer and classical guitarist. He is also an academic administrator, having served as the President of Molloy College since 2020. Lentini has garnered recognition for his compositions and guitar performances, having won numerous international awards and performed in various parts of the world.
Lentini's compositions have been praised for their sophisticated tonality and rich emotional content. He has written pieces for a variety of instruments, including the guitar, piano, and orchestra. In 2009, Lentini was commissioned by conductor Ricardo Averbach to write a piece for the Rio de Janeiro State Orchestra. Lentini composed "Through Time and Place" in memory of his grandparents, and the piece was premiered in Brazil in 2011.
In addition to composing, Lentini is also an accomplished classical guitarist. He has won several international guitar competitions, including the Segovia International Composition Prize and the ARTS Competition.
