Jacques Duphly was an accomplished French composer and harpsichordist who lived between 1715 and 1789. He was born in Rouen, France, and showed an interest in music at a young age. He studied harpsichord with Jean-Francois Dandrieu, who was a prominent musician of the time, and later went on to become a highly respected musician himself.

Duphly's music was known for its elegance, refinement, and intricate harmonies. His compositions were heavily influenced by the French Baroque style of music, and his expertise in the harpsichord was unsurpassed. He was considered to be one of the most accomplished harpsichordists of his time, and his music continues to be admired to this day.

Duphly wrote mainly for the harpsichord, and his compositions include over 30 suites and numerous individual pieces. Some of his most famous works include the three books of "Pièces de Clavecin" (Pieces for Harpsichord), which were published in 1744, 1748, and 1768 respectively. These works are considered to be among the most important pieces of French Baroque music.

In addition to his career as a composer and harpsichordist, Duphly was also an influential music teacher. He taught many students, and some of them went on to become prominent musicians in their own right.
