Iosif Andriasov was a prominent Soviet-Armenian composer born on October 5, 1933, in Moscow, Russia. He grew up in a family of musicians, and his father Aram Andriasov was a renowned composer and conductor. Young Iosif showed a keen interest in music from an early age, and he began studying piano and composition at the Gnessin State Musical College.

After graduating college, Andriasov went on to study at the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied under some of the most prominent Soviet composers of the time, including Tikhon Khrennikov, Yuri Shaporin, and Aram Khachaturian. Andriasov's music was heavily influenced by his Armenian heritage, and he used many Armenian folk melodies in his compositions.

Andriasov's professional career as a composer began in the 1960s, and he quickly gained recognition for his works, which were characterized by their skillful orchestration and innovative approach to harmony. His most famous works include his First Symphony, which was premiered in 1969, and his Second Symphony, which was dedicated to the memory of his father.

Andriasov was also an accomplished educator and musicologist, and he taught at the Moscow Conservatory for many years.
