Hugo Becker (1863-1941) was a German cellist, cello teacher, and composer who made significant contributions to the classical music world. Born as Jean Otto Eric Hugo Becker on February 13 , 1863, he was known for his virtuosic playing style and his innovative approach to cello pedagogy.

Becker received his musical education in Germany and later studied with the renowned cellist Julius Klengel. He began his career as a solo cellist, performing with major orchestras across Europe and the United States.
