Full biography Houston Collisson
Houston Collisson was a prominent Anglo-Irish composer, writer, organist, pianist, and impresario who lived from 1865 to 1920. He was known for his collaborations with other well-known Irish musicians, including Percy French, with whom he adapted the music for the song "The Mountains of Mourne." Collisson was born in County Cork and received his music education at Trinity College in Dublin. He went on to become a prominent musician and composer during his career, and was even responsible for the score of the 1911 film The Colleen Bawn. Collisson was also active as a writer, publishing several works of fiction during his lifetime. Despite his considerable talent, Houston Collisson unfortunately died relatively young, at the age of 54. Nevertheless, his contributions to Irish music and culture continue to be celebrated and remembered to this day.
