Henry Holden Huss was an American composer and pianist who lived from 1862 to 1953. He was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, and displayed an early aptitude for music, particularly the piano. After studying at the National Conservatory of Music in New York City, Huss traveled to Europe to continue his musical education, eventually settling in Berlin where he worked with pianist and composer Theodor Kullak.

Upon his return to the United States, Huss embarked on a successful career as a touring piano virtuoso. However, he is best remembered today for his compositions, which were characterized by a distinct Romantic style. Huss wrote for a variety of genres, including chamber music, symphonies, and piano works. His piano works were especially well-regarded, and he was often praised for his ability to infuse his pieces with both technical virtuosity and melodic beauty.

Despite his talents as a composer, Huss never achieved the level of success or recognition that some of his contemporaries did. However, his music is still performed and studied today, and he is remembered as an important figure in American musical history.
