Henri Brod was a Swiss composer and oboist who lived from 1799 to 1839. He was also an instrument builder, and his main instrument was the oboe. Brod wrote primarily for the oboe and composed opera fantasies , variations, and chamber works such as wind quartets. In his lifetime, Brod was one of the performing composers who wrote almost exclusively for their own instruments /28). He had 58 opus numbers, most of which were composed for the oboe.

Brod's music is considered to be of high quality, and he is regarded as an important figure in the history of the oboe. His works reflect the technical capabilities of the instrument, and he was known for his virtuoso performances on the oboe. Brod's music is primarily in the classical and romantic styles.
