Heinz Winbeck was a German composer, conductor, and teacher who passed away in 2019 at the age of 73. He was born in the town of Vilshofen an der Donau in 1946 and started studying music at a young age. He went on to attend the Academy of Music in Munich and later studied composition with famous composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen and György Ligeti.

Winbeck was known for his modernist approach to composition and his use of electronics in his music. He wrote a number of works for symphony orchestra, chamber ensembles, and solo instruments. Some of his most famous pieces include his five symphonies, which have been described as having similarities to the music of Anton Bruckner.

Winbeck was also active as a conductor and taught composition at the University of Music in Würzburg, Germany. His students included other notable German composers such as Rudi Spring and Daniel Hensel.
