Gustav Jenner was a German composer , conductor, and musical scholar born on December 3, 1865, in Germany. He was also known by his birth name, Cornelius Uwe Gustav Jenner. Jenner was a pupil of the famous German composer Johannes Brahms and later taught music at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin.
Initially, Jenner worked as a conductor and musical scholar. However, he started writing music in the 1880s and gained recognition for his short piano pieces. Jenner was heavily influenced by his teacher, Johannes Brahms, whose music he promoted throughout his career.

He transcribed Brahms' German Requiem for four-hand piano, made a piano reduction of Brahms' Second Symphony, and completed some of Brahms' unfinished compositions, including an organ chorale and two songs.
