Short bio Giuseppe Ferlendis
Full biography Giuseppe Ferlendis
Giuseppe Ferlendis (1755-1802) was an Italian oboist and composer who lived and worked during the Classical era of music. He was born in Bergamo, Italy, and after showing exceptional talent on the oboe at a young age, he was sent to study music in Venice. He later moved to Munich, where he played in the court orchestra and performed in operas.
Ferlendis is perhaps best known today for his association with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In 1777, Mozart wrote an oboe concerto specifically for Ferlendis , which is now known as the Oboe Concerto in C Major ), K.314. Ferlendis also wrote his own oboe concerto, which is included in some recordings and performances alongside Mozart's concerto.
In addition to his work as a performer, Ferlendis also composed music. He wrote several works for oboe, including sonatas, concertos, and a set of duets. He also wrote a number of chamber music pieces and a few vocal pieces. While his music may not be as well-known or frequently performed as Mozart's, it is still valued by oboists and classical music enthusiasts today.
Ferlendis' career took him to several cities throughout Europe, including Vienna, Paris, and London. He performed in various orchestras and collaborated with many different composers. He died in Munich in 1802, at the age of 47.
