Full biography Giulio Belli
Giulio Belli was an Italian composer who lived during the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. He was born in Longiano, Italy in around 1560 and was known for his prolific output of music during his career. Belli worked as a musician in several Italian courts, including those of the Este family in Ferrara and the Gonzaga family in Mantua. He also spent time working at the court of Archduke Ferdinand II in Innsbruck.
Belli was a versatile composer, known for his music for both sacred and secular vocal works. He wrote many sacred motets and masses, as well as instrumental music. Some of Belli's works have survived to the present day and are still performed today. Among his surviving works are the Missa pro defunctis for four voices and the motet "Salve Regina." Belli was also mentioned as a composer by other notable musicians of the time , including Diego Ortiz.
Despite his prolific output and popularity among some of his contemporaries, Belli is not as well-known today as some of his contemporaries such as Claudio Monteverdi. Nonetheless, his music provides valuable insight into the music and culture of his time.
