George de La Hèle was a composer from the Burgundian Low Countries, known for his contributions to the music scene during the Renaissance period. Born around 1547 in Courtrai, in present-day Belgium, little is known about his early life.

La Hèle was considered one of the most remarkable composers of his time, and his works were highly esteemed by his contemporaries. He was associated with the Royal Chapel of Brussels, where he served for over 25 years as a singer, chapel master, and composer.

La Hèle developed a style of composition that was uniquely his own. His works were characteristically polyphonic, with intricate textures that were both elaborate and beautiful. He was highly regarded for his use of melody and counterpoint, which he used to great effect in his compositions.

La Hèle’s works include sacred motets, chansons, and madrigals, which were highly popular during the Renaissance period. Some of his most notable compositions include "Missa Paschalis," "Regina caeli," and "Je suis ravi."

Despite his significant contributions to the world of music, little is known about La Hèle's personal life. He died in 1602 in Brussels and was buried in the Cathedral of Saint Gudula. Today, his music is still performed and admired by enthusiasts of Renaissance music and serves as a testament to the skill and artistry of this remarkable composer.
