Full biography Geoffrey Burgon
Geoffrey Alan Burgon was an English composer born on July 15, 1941 in Hambledon, Hampshire, England. He was known for his music compositions for film and television, and is considered one of the most successful composers in these fields. Burgon started playing the trumpet at the age of 15, and began composing music for a local group soon after. Later, he attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where he studied composition and trumpet.
Burgon's style of music was diverse, ranging from contemporary classical to jazz and popular music. He achieved success in various forms of media, including film, TV, and theatre. Some of his most notable works include the theme music for the television series "Brideshead Revisited" and "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," film scores for "Monty Python's Life of Brian" and "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," and ballet scores for the Royal Ballet.
Over the course of his career, Burgon won several awards for his work, including two Ivor Novello Awards , a BAFTA Award, and a Royal Television Society Award. Sadly, Burgon passed away on September 21, 2010, at the age of 69 after a brief illness. The music he composed during his lifetime continues to be highly regarded and well-loved.
