Seitz was born in Germany and was an active musician in various cities throughout the country , including Sondershausen, Magdeburg, and Dessau. He became the concertmaster of the Dessau court-orchestra around the year 1884 and his works became popular during his time as a musician.

Some of Seitz's most well-known violin pieces include his eight student concertos , which are still commonly used today as study pieces for beginners and advanced players alike.
