Friedrich Heinrich Himmel was a German composer, born on November 20, 1765, in Treuenbrietzen, Brandenburg, Prussia. He is famous for his ability to write simple yet genuine melodies. Himmel initially studied theology at the University of Jena but eventually turned towards music and enrolled at the Berlin Opera to study composition and piano.

Himmel's compositions include operas, chamber music, and songs, and he was a prolific composer in his time. His most famous works include his operas "Fanchon" and "Nina", which both received critical acclaim. Additionally, his Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 1 is still performed regularly today.

Himmel had close friendships with many other prominent composers of his time, including Ludwig van Beethoven and Vincenzo Righini. Beethoven was known to have dedicated his Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 3 to Himmel.

Himmel died on June 8, 1814, in Berlin, at the age of 48. He left behind a legacy as a brilliant composer and musician, whose compositions have stood the test of time and continue to be celebrated today.
