Frederick A. Fox (1931-2011) was an American classical composer known for his works in electronic music and chamber music. Born on January 17, 1931, he studied at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City and later went on to teach at several universities, including Indiana University and the University of Pittsburgh.

Fox's compositions often combined traditional instruments with electronic sounds and were known for their innovative use of technology. Some of his notable works include "Silent Beaches" for piano and electronic tape, "Ostinato for Piano and Orchestra," and "Epicycles for Flute, Clarinet, and Tape."

In addition to his work as a composer, Fox was also an accomplished writer and poet. He authored several books on music theory and electronic music and also published several volumes of poetry. Additionally, he was a respected music critic and often contributed reviews to prominent music publications.

Fox passed away on December 11, 2011, at the age of 80. His contributions to the world of music, both as a composer and as a writer, continue to influence and inspire new generations of musicians and music lovers alike.
