Francesco Antonio Vallotti (1697-1780) was an Italian composer, music theorist, and organist. He was born in Padua, Italy, and spent most of his life there. He studied under the Italian composer and music theorist Benedetto Marcello in Venice.

Vallotti was known for his religious music compositions, particularly his Marian antiphons, which are still performed today. In addition to his compositions, Vallotti wrote extensively on music theory and was considered an expert in the subject.

One of Vallotti's most significant contributions to music theory was his work on tuning systems for keyboard instruments. He proposed a system known as "Vallotti temperament," which was designed to improve the sound quality of keyboard instruments by modifying the tuning of some of their notes.

Vallotti was also an accomplished organist, and he served as the official organist at the Basilica of Santa Giustina in his hometown of Padua for over 50 years. He was regarded as one of the most talented and respected musicians of his time and was considered a leading authority on music theory and composition.

Francesco Antonio Vallotti's legacy continues to live on through his music and his contributions to music theory and keyboard tuning systems. His works continue to be studied, performed, and admired by musicians and scholars alike.
