Caroso is best known for his important contributions to the development of dance forms of the time, particularly the galliard and the pavane, which were popular during the late 16th century. He was also renowned for his expertise in the art of composing dance music, and authored several highly influential books on the subject, including the "Nobiltà di Dame" (The Nobility of Ladies), published in 1600.
