Elena Asachi (1789-1877) was a composer, pianist, and singer of Romanian origin who was born in Austria. She was the wife of Gheorghe Asachi, a Moldavian-Romanian prose writer and poet. Elena began her musical education at an early age and quickly established herself as a highly talented musician. She was particularly known for her skills as a pianist and composer.

Asachi's compositions were largely influenced by classical and Romantic-era musical styles and included works for piano, voice, and chamber ensemble. Her compositions were highly regarded during her lifetime, and she was one of the few women composers of her time to achieve recognition and popularity.

In addition to her musical talents, Asachi was also known for her philanthropic activities. She was involved in many charitable organizations and was especially interested in supporting education and the arts. Asachi passed away in May 1877, but her legacy as a pioneering female composer and musician continues to be recognized and celebrated to this day.
