Eduard Schutt (1856-1933) was a Russian composer, pianist, and conductor. He is not a very well-known composer, however, he wrote over a hundred works which included many piano pieces. Schutt started his career as a pianist, studying at the St. Petersburg Conservatory before moving to Moscow in the 1870s to continue his studies with Nikolai Rubinstein. In the 1880s Schutt started to gain recognition as a composer and in 1889, his piano works were performed in Moscow.

Although Schutt was primarily a composer of piano music, he also wrote chamber music and songs. Some of his most well-known compositions include "Petite Suite" and "Paraphrase on Brahms' Lullaby". The latter is a beautiful piano work that draws its inspiration from Brahms' "Wiegenlied" (Lullaby), which is also known as "Brahms' Lullaby". Schutt's interpretation of the Brahms' melody is both elegant and inventive with added harmonic touches that are typical of the Romantic era.

Schutt was also a music educator, and his students include Walter Rabl, Anton Webern, and George Antheil. He spent most of his career in Russia, teaching at various institutions, including the Moscow Conservatory and the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Eduard Schutt passed away in 1933, leaving behind a substantial body of work that is largely unknown to the music world. Despite his relative obscurity, Schutt's music is often beautiful and imaginative, revealing an accomplished composer who deserves more recognition.
