Eddie Brandt was an American composer, songwriter, author, and television writer and animator. He was born on August 5, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois, and later attended Northwestern University and Texas Christian University. In addition to composing and songwriting, Brandt was also a skilled musician, performing alongside bandleaders such as Spade Cooley and Spike Jones on television.
Brandt contributed to popular television shows of his time , including The Mickey Mouse Club, The Flintstones, and The Jetsons. He also wrote the music and lyrics for "There's No Place Like Hawaii," and is remembered as one of the finest music writers of his generation.
In addition to his work in music and television , Brandt was an avid collector of vintage Hollywood memorabilia, and operated a successful film memorabilia store in North Hollywood which he ran with his wife, Marge, for over 50 years. Brandt passed away on February 20, 2011, at the age of 90, after battling colon cancer. His legacy and contributions to the music and television industries remain influential and celebrated to this day.
