Dionisio Aguado y Garcia was a Spanish classical guitarist and composer who lived from 1784 to 1849. He is most well-known for his contributions to classical guitar music during the late Classical and early Romantic periods. Aguado was an accomplished guitarist himself, and he is considered to be one of the most important guitarists and composers of his time.
Aguado's most famous work is the guitar tutorial Escuela de Guitarra , which is still widely used today. He also wrote dozens of other works for the guitar, including etudes, preludes, and sonatas. His compositions are highly organized and structured, which has led some commentators to compare them to legal documents.
Aguado was a contemporary and friend of the famous guitarist and composer Fernando Sor, and the two musicians played together and collaborated on a number of works. Sor wrote a duet in honor of their friendship called "Les Deux Amis."
