Short bio Dave Bartholomew
Full biography Dave Bartholomew
Dave Bartholomew was an influential American musician, bandleader, composer, arranger, and record producer who made significant contributions to the development of rock and roll music. He was born on December 24, 1918, and passed away on June 23, 2019, at the age of 100.
Bartholomew began his career as a trumpeter and bandleader in the 1940s, but it was his work as an arranger and producer that had the greatest impact on the music industry. He was responsible for producing and co-writing many of Fats Domino's biggest hits, including "Ain't That a Shame," "Blueberry Hill," and "I'm Walkin'." He also worked with other prominent musicians such as Smiley Lewis, Lloyd Price, and Shirley and Lee.
Bartholomew's music was heavily influenced by his upbringing in New Orleans, where he was exposed to a wide range of musical styles including jazz, blues, and R&B. He served with the U.S. Army Band during World War II, where he learned to write and arrange music , and was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions to the genre.
Bartholomew's legacy continues to influence musicians and fans of all ages and backgrounds , and his pioneering work in the development of rock and roll music will be remembered for generations to come.
