Born on May 21, 1883, in Rotterdam, van Oosterzee showed an early interest in music and had her first composition performance at the age of 15. She went on to study at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels and later in Paris with renowned composer, Vincent d'Indy.

Van Oosterzee's music is known for its distinctively Dutch character, with clear influences from the Dutch folk music tradition. She was a skilled composer of chamber music, including pieces for violin, cello, and piano. Her compositions are characterized by their clear melodies, lyricism, and often experimental harmonies.

Some of her notable works include "Eerste Suite," "Serenade voor Viool en Piano," and "Poème voor Cello en Piano." She was prolific throughout her lifetime, with compositions spanning over six decades. Her music has been performed and recorded by various ensembles, both in the Netherlands and internationally.

Van Oosterzee was also a dedicated teacher, having taught music theory and composition at the Rotterdam Conservatory for over 30 years. She was known for her exceptional ability to mentor young musicians and composers, many of whom went on to become influential music figures.
