Cornel Trailescu was a Romanian composer, conductor, and pianist who was born on February 5, 1901, in Bucharest, Romania. He studied music at the Bucharest Conservatory and later at the Vienna Academy of Music. He started his career as a pianist, performing concerts in Romania, Austria, and Germany.
Trailescu later turned his focus to composition and conducting, and became a recognized figure in the Romanian music scene. He was the conductor of the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca for many years , and also worked for the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company.
Trailescu composed a variety of works, including operas, ballets, chamber music, and symphonic works. Some of his most famous works include "Maria Mirabela," "Craii de Curtea-Veche," and "O noapte furtunoasa."
Trailescu was also a respected music educator, serving as a professor at the Bucharest Conservatory and the Cluj-Napoca Academy of Music.
He passed away on August 16, 1979, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful music and a contribution to the development of Romanian classical music.
