Carlo Pedrotti (1817-1893) was an Italian composer, conductor, and opera administrator who was associated with Giuseppe Verdi. He was born in Verona and studied at the Milan Conservatory. Pedrotti's compositions were primarily operatic, and he is most well-known for his work as a librettist. He collaborated with several composers, including Verdi, for whom he wrote the Tuba mirum section of the Requiem.

Pedrotti was a prominent figure in the opera world during the mid-19th century and served as the director of the Teatro Regio in Turin and the La Scala Theater in Milan. As a conductor, he performed numerous operas by Verdi and other composers, and also composed a number of operas himself.

Although Pedrotti's reputation as a composer has not held up as strongly as that of his contemporaries, his work is still occasionally performed today. In particular, his contribution to the Requiem has secured his place in the history of classical music. Overall, Pedrotti's legacy lies primarily in his role as an influential composer, conductor, and leader in the world of Italian opera during the 19th century.
