Cacilda Borges Barbosa was a prominent Brazilian composer, songwriter, and pianist who made significant contributions to the country's music scene. She was born on June 26, 1921, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and showed a talent for music from an early age. Barbosa began her formal training in music at the age of 12 at the Brazilian Conservatory of Music, where she studied classical piano.

In addition to her love of classical music, Barbosa was also drawn to the popular music styles of Brazil, such as samba and choro. She often combined these genres with her classical training to create a unique sound that was distinctly her own.

Barbosa became known for her work as a composer, creating original music for both instrumental and vocal performances. Some of her most notable works include the "Choro Nº 2" for flute and orchestra, "Sonata para Piano Nº 1," and the song "Neurose," which was recorded by several prominent Brazilian performers.
