Full biography Bohuslav Matěj cernohorsky
Bohuslav Matěj Černohorský was a Czech composer who lived in the 18th century. He was born on February 16, 1684, in the town of Nymburk, Bohemia, which is now part of the Czech Republic. Černohorský was a renowned composer, musician, and choir director, who greatly influenced choral music in his era.
Černohorský began his career as a member of an Augustinian monastery. He received his education and training in music through the monastic schools and later pursued further studies in Prague, where he studied with the famous composer Johann Joseph Fux. Černohorský dedicated himself to the composition of sacred music, writing over 300 works that were primarily for the church.
Černohorský's works reflect the influences of the Baroque era, which was characterized by its grandeur and ornateness. His music is celebrated for its imaginative harmonies, contrapuntal textures, and sophisticated vocal writing. Notable among his compositions are his Magnificat settings, masses, and requiems, many of which have been recorded and continue to be performed to this day.
Despite his accomplishments, Bohuslav Matěj Černohorský remains a relatively obscure figure in the history of music. However, his contribution to choral music cannot be understated, and his music remains a part of the liturgical repertoire of many churches to this day.
