Benedictus Appenzeller was a Renaissance composer born in Switzerland around the year 1480. He is considered one of the most important musicians of his time, and his music has had a lasting impact on the development of early music.

Appenzeller is best known for his vocal compositions, particularly his sacred works. He was a prolific composer, and many of his pieces are still performed today, hundreds of years after his death.

Appenzeller spent much of his life in the service of the Habsburgs, working as a musician and composer in Vienna. He also worked in the courts of several other European monarchs, including King Ferdinand of Germany and King Henry VIII of England.

Despite his success as a composer, little is known about Appenzeller's personal life. He passed away in Vienna in 1558, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional music and a lasting influence on the development of Renaissance music.
