Bartolino da Padova, also known as Bartolino da Padova de Zoan, was an Italian composer and theorist who lived during the fourteenth century. Not much is known about his life, but it is believed that he was born in Padua around 1330 and died around 1405.
Bartolino was a significant figure in the development of music theory during the fourteenth century. He is best known for his treatise, "Regulae rhythmicae", which is considered one of the most important medieval treatises on rhythm. In this work, Bartolino explored the relationship between text and music and the different rhythmic patterns that could be used to set text to music.
Bartolino was also a composer, and a number of his works have survived to this day. His compositions include madrigals, ballatas, and conducti. Many of Bartolino's works are notable for their use of complex rhythmic patterns and intricate counterpoint. He was known for his skill in the art of canon, and his compositions often make use of this technique.
