Barbara of Portugal, also known as Barbara of Braganza, was a Portuguese composer and musician who lived during the 18th century. Born in 1711, she was the daughter of King John V of Portugal and Maria Ana of Austria.

Barbara was well educated, receiving a formal music education from the prestigious Italian musician Domenico Scarlatti. She began composing at a young age, and her works were known for their beauty and complexity.

Despite being a member of royalty, Barbara was not content to simply enjoy her privileged lifestyle. She continued to write music throughout her life and was known for her dedication to her craft.

Some of her most famous works include the opera "La pazienza di Socrate", "Il trionfo dell'umiltà e della pace", and the cantata "Il Pianto di Maria" which was written in memory of her husband.
