Arthur William Oldham was an English composer and conductor, born on September 6, 1926, and died on May 4, 2003. He is known for his works as a classical music composer and for his contribution to choral music, having conducted several choral groups, including the London Symphony Chorus.
One of his notable works is "Psalms in Time of War," which he wrote for his farewell appearance in Edinburgh. He also produced an operetta entitled "The Land of Green Ginger."
Oldham was one of the six composers who collaboratively wrote the "Variations on an Elizabethan Theme," along with Lennox Berkeley, Benjamin Britten, Humphrey Searle, Michael Tippett, and William Walton.
In addition to his work as a composer, Oldham was also a conductor, and he conducted several notable performances, including Placido Domingo, Orchestre de Paris , Choeur de L'orchestre de Paris , among others.
